Overview
Dimension Mk3 is a 10HP wavetable oscillator from Ziqal that can play up to 24 wavetable oscillators at once. Those can be stacked as chords, unison or dual oscillators, and with its internal VCAs, ADSRs and filters switched on, the module becomes a four-voice polyphonic synth played over MIDI or CV and gate. Its audio engine runs at 32-bit float and 44.1 kHz.
Wavetables are the center of it. A warp processor twists, flips, stretches and folds tables in real time, and three macro controls (A, B and NAV) can be assigned to any parameter. The second output can carry stereo audio, a second oscillator, an LFO, or MIDI converted to CV.
Wavetables on the Dimension Mk3
Dimension keeps a pool of 25 wavetables in internal memory, and its 128 patches draw from that pool. Each table is a WAV file of 1 to 256 waves, every wave 2048 samples, mono, 16-bit or 32-bit. Ziqal says the format is fully compatible with Serum and Vital, so libraries made for either load as they are. To load one, choose SD from the main menu, browse to the file and pick one of the 25 pool slots. Replacing a pool slot changes every patch that uses it. A saved patch also keeps its tuning and macro knob positions, and the knobs only take over again once you move them past the saved values.
The card is microSD, formatted FAT or FAT32, up to 32 GB of usable space. You can organize folders however you like, since the file browser reads the whole card. The card also stores full session backups (128 patches, 25 wavetables and settings) in a sessions folder. Dimension can’t create a wavetable from scratch, so new tables come from computer tools.
WaveStack has no Dimension target because its Serum / Serum 2 target already writes what Dimension reads: 2048-sample frames, up to 256, mono, with the clm tag Serum uses. That target writes 32-bit float, the same as files saved by Serum itself. Ziqal’s manual lists 16-bit and 32-bit without saying whether 32-bit means float, so if a file won’t load, export it again with Other tools at 2048 samples and 16-bit with the clm tag on.
Dimension’s own navigation has a second axis. With the navigation size set above 1, a patch morphs through several pool tables at once: NAV moves within a table and the B macro moves between tables. A 2D grid from WaveStack arrives as one long table, rows end to end. To get a grid’s rows onto that second axis, export each row as its own table and line them up in the patch. If your card already holds a mix of wavetables from different sources, link it as a folder in WaveStack with the Serum / Serum 2 target selected. Export lists each file as ready, needs converting or unreadable, and Convert all rewrites the ones that need it as 2048-sample tables.

From WaveStack to the Dimension Mk3
- Build or import a table in WaveStack. Up to 256 frames fits Dimension.
- Open Export and pick Serum / Serum 2 as what the table is for.
- Save to a folder on the microSD card, or link the card so Export writes into it.
- Put the card in the Dimension, open the main menu and select SD.
- Browse to your file, click it, and choose one of the 25 pool slots to load it into.
- Select that pool slot in a patch’s navigation settings, and save the patch to keep it.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Ziqal Dimension read Serum wavetables?
Yes. Ziqal’s manual says the Dimension’s wavetable format is fully compatible with Serum and Vital, so you can copy those libraries to the microSD card and load them directly. The format is a WAV of 1 to 256 waves, each 2048 samples, mono, at 16 or 32 bits. WaveStack’s Serum / Serum 2 target writes that format, and can import tables in other sizes and resample them to 2048.
How many wavetables can the Dimension hold at once?
25. Wavetables are loaded from the card into a pool of 25 slots in internal memory, and any of the 128 patches can use any pool slot. Everything else stays on the card until you load it. If you replace a table in the pool, every patch that uses that slot plays the new table, so it’s worth saving a session to the card before reshuffling the pool. Loading or saving a session takes 1 to 3 minutes.
Can I make wavetables on the Dimension itself?
No. Ziqal’s manual says the module won’t create a wavetable from scratch. It can reshape tables in real time with its warp processor, but the tables have to come from a computer. Any editor that writes 2048-sample frames works. WaveStack’s Serum / Serum 2 target writes them from tables you build, morph or import from samples and images, up to Dimension’s limit of 256 frames.
What SD card works with the Dimension?
A microSD card formatted FAT or FAT32. Ziqal recommends the SD Association’s SD Memory Card Formatter. The maximum supported size is 32 GB, and a larger card formatted as FAT32 still only gives you 32 GB. Folders can be arranged any way you like, because the module’s file browser lets you move through the whole card. Ziqal ships the module with a 4 GB card that already holds a selection of wavetables.
