WaveStack Modulate 0.1 preview
A modulation source for MIDI and CV
Modulate makes LFOs, random changes and chaotic motion, and sends them to your synths as MIDI CC. With a DC-coupled audio interface, it also sends CV, gates and clocks to your modular, including through Expert Sleepers' ES-5, ESX-8GT and ESX-8CV expanders.

What it does
- 16 sources
- Each source is a shape: sine, triangle, saw, square, random, a shape you draw, or a chaotic system such as the Lorenz attractor. Each source has four outputs of its own, called taps.
- Routing
- Send each tap to one or more outputs. You can have up to 64 outputs, and each one is a MIDI CC, a control voltage or a gate.
- Modulation
- A source can change another source's speed, depth or shape. For example, one LFO can speed up another.
- CV and gates
- With a DC-coupled audio interface, outputs can send CV, gates or clock pulses to your modular. Add an ES-5 for 8 more gates, and ESX-8GT and ESX-8CV expanders for up to 40 more jacks. You can quantize CV to a scale, and use the interface's inputs as sources.
- Tempo and clock
- Sources run at a speed you set, or in time with the tempo. Modulate can follow MIDI clock, your DAW's tempo, or clock pulses on an interface input.
- Steps and smoothing
- Resolution turns a smooth shape into steps. Smooth rounds off sharp corners. Rough adds a slow random drift.
Supported interfaces
Pick your interface, then choose a jack for each output. If you have an ES-5 on an ES-8 or ES-9, you can also use its gates and its ESX-8GT and ESX-8CV expanders.

For Macs with Apple Silicon or Intel, macOS 12 or later. The plugin works in your DAW as a MIDI effect, in CLAP, VST3 and Audio Unit formats. Unzip it and copy it into your plug-in folders.
