Privacy Policy

The short version

WaveStack sends a small amount of anonymous usage data so we can see which features get used. You can turn it off in the app. Your wavetables, audio, and file names stay on your device. There are no accounts, and we can't identify you.

Anonymous usage analytics

WaveStack uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. When analytics are on, the app sends a signal when it launches and when you use certain features:

  • Importing audio or an image
  • Building or exporting a table, including the export format
  • Adding a library folder or a device, and the device type (for example "Deluge")
  • Sending or converting a table for a device

Each signal also carries the app version, platform (for example "macOS" or "Web"), system language, and release channel. Signals are tied to a random ID generated when you first open the app. It isn't linked to your name, email, or device, and TelemetryDeck hashes it again before storing it.

WaveStack never sends:

  • Personal information such as your name, email, or Apple ID
  • File names, file paths, or folder structures
  • Audio, wavetables, or images
  • Advertising identifiers or location data

TelemetryDeck doesn't use cookies, track you across apps or websites, or build advertising profiles. See TelemetryDeck's privacy policy for details.

Turning analytics off

Analytics are on by default. To turn them off, open Settings and go to Privacy. When you switch it off, the app sends one final signal recording the opt-out, then stops sending.

Your data stays on your device

Wavetables, imported audio, library folders, device settings, and preferences are stored locally. On macOS, Windows, and iPad that means folders on your own disk. In the web version it means your browser's private storage for this site. Nothing is uploaded to us.

App stores

If you install WaveStack through Apple's App Store, Apple may share aggregated, de-identified data with us, such as sales by region and, if you've opted in to sharing analytics with developers, usage and crash data. Apple handles all payments and we never see your payment details. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

This website

wavestack.app uses Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics, which sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived, and your approximate location and device type. We use it to see how people find the site. See how Google uses this data, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

If you pick a color scheme, it's remembered in your browser's local storage and never sent anywhere. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and request times, to operate and secure the site.

Children's privacy

We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The anonymous analytics described above can't identify users of any age.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use WaveStack after a change means you accept the updated policy.
