Modulate keeps running when you switch to another app, so its MIDI doesn’t stop. It doesn’t make any sound, and it doesn’t interrupt other apps’ audio.
The AUv3 plugin
The AUv3 is a MIDI processor with the same editor as the app. Its patch is saved with your host’s project, and it follows the host’s tempo and transport. The AUv3 is part of Pro, so buy Pro in the app first.
- AUM: add a channel and choose WaveStack Modulate under MIDI Processors. Then, in AUM’s MIDI routing, send its output to the synths you want it to control.
- Loopy Pro: add WaveStack Modulate as a MIDI plugin, then route its MIDI to your synths.
- Logic Pro for iPad: on an instrument track, add WaveStack Modulate as a MIDI FX.
GarageBand can’t host MIDI processors.
The AUv3 only sends MIDI. To send CV, use the app.
CV on the iPad
Connect an ES-8, ES-9 or another DC-coupled interface to the iPad’s USB-C port. Then set it up under CV, as on a computer.
