Troubleshooting
Nothing comes out of the MIDI port. Make sure the output is on, that a tap is routed to it, and that Send to is set. In the other app, choose “WaveStack Modulate” as a MIDI input.
A clocked source doesn’t follow my DAW. In the app, your DAW needs to send MIDI clock to the “WaveStack Modulate” input, and Clock from needs to be set to it. The plugin follows the DAW’s tempo on its own.
The AUv3 shows a lock screen. The AUv3 is part of Pro. Buy or restore Pro in the app’s Settings, then add the plugin again in your host.
The AUv3 doesn’t show up in my host. Open the Modulate app once, then look again. Look under MIDI processors or MIDI FX, not instruments or audio effects.
The desktop plugin doesn’t show up in my DAW. Check that it’s in the right folder (see The desktop plugins), then rescan. Some DAWs only list MIDI effects in a separate place.
CV in or clock in reads nothing. Give Modulate microphone permission. See Microphone permission. On an ES-9, turn off DC blocking for that input.
A CV input comes in weak or shifted. On an ES-9, turn off DC blocking for that input.
The ES-5 or an expander acts strangely. Make sure nothing else is sending to the ES-5’s channels, and that each header is set to the right expander.
Windows warns about the installer. The preview isn’t signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Known issues
- The Windows app and plugin aren’t signed.
- You can’t buy Pro on Mac or Windows yet. During the preview, those versions include everything.
- We haven’t tested the ESX-8CV’s voltage scale, or the order of the ES-5 and ESX-8GT gates, with hardware. Let us know if they’re off.
- We haven’t tested CV on the iPad with hardware yet.
- The first time Modulate asks for microphone permission, its window can stay blank until you answer.
