A patch can have up to 16 sources. Only the sources you’re using are shown. Click Add source to add one. To remove one, click Remove in its editor. This also removes its routes.
Shapes
Waves:
| Shape | What it does | Controls |
|---|---|---|
| Sine | A smooth wave | Lean, Fold |
| Triangle | Straight lines up and down | Lean, Curve |
| Saw | A rising ramp. Set Depth below 0 to make it fall. | Curve, Steps |
| Square | High, then low | Width, Soften |
| Sample & hold | Jumps to a new random level each cycle | Chance, Steps |
| Smooth random | Glides to a new random level each cycle | Chance, Jump |
| Morph | Blends through sine, triangle, saw, square and stepped shapes | Morph, Steps |
| Drawn | A shape you draw | Glide, Steps |
Chaotic systems:
| Shape | What it does | Controls |
|---|---|---|
| Field | A moving pattern read at four points. Choose how it moves: Drift, Flow, Spin, Rain, Wave or Cells. | Depend on the motion |
| Pendulum | A double pendulum. It swings, then flips unpredictably. | Energy, Tilt |
| Lorenz | Loops that switch sides at random | Chaos, Shape |
| Wander | Four random walks | Step, Pull |
From the CV interface:
| Shape | What it does | Controls |
|---|---|---|
| CV in | A voltage from an input on your interface | Slew, Gain |
Taps
Each source has four outputs of its own, called taps A to D.
For most shapes, the taps are copies of the same shape, shifted in time. Spread sets how far apart they are. At 100% they’re a quarter cycle apart. At 0% they move together.
For Pendulum and Lorenz, each tap follows a different part of the system.
For CV in, the taps are the input, the input inverted, the input made positive, and a slowed-down copy.
Rate
Choose Free to set a speed in Hz, from 0.01 to 40.
Choose Clocked to set a note length instead, from 8 bars to 1/32. A clocked source stays in time with the tempo. When a DAW or clock is playing, clocked sources line up with its bars.
Phase moves where the cycle starts.
Level
- Depth sets how far the source moves. A negative depth flips it.
- Offset moves the whole source up or down.
- Unipolar makes the source go from 0 to 1 instead of −1 to 1.
- Resolution turns the source into steps. Choose 8-bit for 256 steps, down to 2-bit for 4. Choose Full for no steps.
Character
- Smooth rounds off sharp corners and jumps.
- Rough adds a slow random drift to the level and speed.
Reset puts the source’s settings back to where the shape starts. It keeps the shape, the speed and the routes.
